“It is a privilege to be able to sponsor our child.  It makes us feel connected with her as a family, and helps us to realize that there are needs outside of our own lives and that we can make a difference through helping to meet those needs.”
~Bob and Brenda Merwin, California

“We enjoy being sponsors because it connects us and our boys with another child from Africa.  We chose to sponsor a young man, close in age to our two boys, to help them see that someone like them, across the world, has challenges that we don’t face.  It is exciting to know that we are helping to change his life and the life of his family with our monthly support.  His smiling picture is on our fridge, reminding us to pray for him whenever we see it.
~Wendy Gorris, California

“I want to thank AMA for the updated picture and letter from my sponsored child, Samuel!  It was exciting to see how he has grown since the last picture I received.  Along with that, I received a thank you for the Christmas gift and musical card I sent.  He said it was “amazing” to hear the music in a card!  I am sure it takes hours of work on the part of AMA to facilitate the translation and mailing of correspondence, but it is so nice to actually feel that connection with the child I sponsor.  Thank you for the time and effort that goes into making this possible!”
~Ronda Stewart, Washington

“I love being a sponsor for Africa Mission Alliance.  There is a special bond that you feel with your child because AMA makes sure that the communication channels are in place, in order for the child and the sponsor to stay involved in a close, meaningful way.  I can’t describe how exciting it is to receive card, pictures, letters and drawings from my adorable sponsored child!  I can even see how he is progressing in his school!  I am so thankful for this organization and the vision they have for these families in Africa.  I whole-heartedly believe that we are making a difference over there.  God Bless.”
~Katie Haynes, Washington

“We first began sponsoring children in 1998, and most recently began sponsoring a child through AMA in December 2008.  We especially like the fact that the child’s whole family (up to seven people) were covered for medical care when we sponsored that child.  We are also really pleased that the child goes to Saturday Club, where he can sing, dance or play sports, as well as learn about God’s love for him.  Having met several people from Africa, who were sponsored, and seeing what a difference it has made in their lives (doctors, health workers, professional musicians, teachers, etc.), I would recommend it to anyone able to sponsor a child.  You have the power to totally change another persons life!  We believe that it is the best thing that one person can ever do for another.
~Pat and Peter Stockdale, Leeds, UK

“My husband and I decided that for each child that God blessed us with, we would sponsor a child.  We sponsor children because everyone should have access to clean water, food and education.  God has blessed us in order for us to bless others.  It has been a wonderful experience for us and our children to write to our sponsor children and to realize that one person can make a difference in the life of a child.”

“We have been privileged to sponsor Germaine for almost two years.  She is a blessing in our life and a part of our family.  As a child being sponsored through AMA, Germain is flourishing into a beautiful young girl.  She now has basic necessities, health care & nutrition, and education.  She is able to learn, play, sing and someday follow her dreams.  It is not about the monthly payments of $28.00 or $336.00 a year to sponsor a child.  It is simple.  Being a sponsor through AMA allows you to open your hear to a child to give them an opportunity to overcome despair, poverty, illiteracy and disease.”
~Kevin & Sarah Coughlin, California

“It brings a real sense of joy to know that my monthly contribution can make my sponsor child’s life in Rwanda better.  I am grateful that he can get a Christian education.  His precious smiling face reminds me that we are all God’s creation, and I love to know I am committed to helping him throughout his education.  I am grateful for this organization and would highly recommend it as reputable and trustworthy.
~Anne Taylor, California

“Sponsor kids are unique.  For the longest time they are faces in a photograph, hand written letters in a language you don’t read and some colored parts on the page. There are the letters you write back, the photos you send, and the extra money at Christmas so they can get new school supplies and clothes.  Then you meet them.  You’re excited at first, even crying because you can now put a body to the picture, you can see how big they are for real.  You get to see them smile, and you get to touch them.  You start to realize that a photo only says so much.  I am so blessed.  I met Annitha on Friday, April 3rd.  I poked my head in her class and recognized her instantly.  That’s when I started crying, and I had to turn away; she was in class.  Do you know how beautiful she is?  How tall she is, how graceful she is?  I realized I could never give her enough.  How do you show a child how much you love them when you never see them?  How do you let them know that they are one of the most precious children you have ever had the privilege of meeting?  How do you show them the world through letters and photos?  And never get to see the awe and delight in their eyes when they see something for the first time, or understand something new. I am one of the fortunate ones who has gotten to meet my sponsored kids. These are memories I don’t want to forget.  I don’t want them to forget me.  I can’t spend time with them, but I can be a a part of their lives.”
