The main route out of poverty is work, and this can be assured through generating employment or promoting self-employment. Vocational education and training plays a crucial role in generating the skills necessary to poverty alleviation.

Helping especially widows to gain additional income is often the most efficient way to impact an entire family. Africa Mission Alliance is helping widows and poor mothers to start small income generating projects by teaching them marketable skills such as sewing, jewelery making, knitting, among others.

Many of the women that AMA works with did not complete their secondary education and have to support themselves and their children. There are also women who lost their husbands in the genocide or to HIV/AIDS.

We raise startup funds for every graduate from our technical school to be able to start a small trade using their acquired skills.
