Child Education

Today, one out of every four African children does not go to school. Our goal is to ensure that every child has access to quality education. Children have the right to access an education that provides them with the tools needed to sustain an adequate standard of living when they grow up. The best way to ensure sustainable development of a community is to educate its children in a way that releases them to become responsible and able citizens.

AMA  supports two primary schools in Rwanda. The vision of Hilltop Academy and Faith Preparatory Academy is to hire top qualified teachers with a smaller teacher to student ratio, offer after school tutoring, and provide free uniforms, shoes and supplies to the children as well as one meal a day in a Christian environment. We also hope to have extra-curricular activities such as music, art and dance in the future.

Faith Preparatory School is the first Christian, English-speaking school in the small village of Butare in Rwanda. The school is located on a steep hill above a beautiful valley of banana groves and local plantations. The school provides free education for children from poverty stricken homes with little or no income for the children to go to school.

The school opened on January 8, 2007 with 5 classes and approximately 250 children. The number is expected to grow every year with additional funding to pay teachers’ salaries.

Hilltop Academy is located near the heart of Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda. The school sits on the top of a salient hill which overlooks the slum town of Runda. There are hundreds of children who dwell in this area of poverty and disease. Hilltop Academy opened on January 16, 2007 with five classes and approximately 200 children. The number is expected to grow every year with additional funding. Our hope is that the school will become a center of ministry to the families that live in this area.
